Scope: This Privacy Policy explains how Avego ("Avego", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects personal information when you use the Avego mobile application and related services (the "App" or "Services"). This Policy applies to users accessing the App from within India. By creating an account, using the App, or otherwise providing information to Avego, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Policy.

If you do not agree with any part of this Privacy Policy, do not use the App or provide any personal information to Avego.

1. Who is the Data Controller / Contact

Avego is the data controller responsible for the processing of personal information collected through the App. For questions, requests, or concerns about privacy practices or to exercise your privacy rights, contact our privacy team at:

(Where applicable under law, we will also provide the contact details of a Data Protection Officer or designated privacy contact upon request.)

2. Scope & Applicability

This Policy covers personal information collected:

  • • When you register for an Avego account or use the App;
  • • When you provide profile information, photos, videos, preferences, and messages;
  • • When you interact with other users through the App (for example, matching, messaging, liking);
  • • When you use Paid Features, including purchases and billing;
  • • When you access the App using third-party authentication (if you opt to do so);
  • • When you interact with our support team, participate in promotions, or otherwise communicate with us.

It does not cover information collected by third parties through links, widgets, advertisements, or other services not controlled by Avego. We are not responsible for third-party privacy practices.

3. Definitions (Short)

  • Personal Data / Personal Information: Any information that identifies you directly or indirectly (name, email, phone, photos, location, etc.).
  • Sensitive Personal Data: Information that is considered sensitive by nature — in Avego's context this may include sexual orientation, relationship status, or other optional profile fields you choose to provide.
  • User Content: Photos, videos, profile text, messages, and any other content you upload to the App.
  • Processing: Any operation performed on personal data (collection, storage, use, disclosure, deletion, etc.).
  • Third-Party Providers: External vendors and service providers that perform functions on our behalf (hosting, payments, analytics, fraud prevention, etc.).

4. Personal Information We Collect — Categories & Examples

We collect information to provide, secure, and improve the App. The categories below describe the types of information we may collect, whether you provide them directly or they are collected automatically.

A. Information you provide directly

  • Account & Contact Data: Email address, phone number (if provided), chosen username, password (securely hashed), profile bio.
  • Profile Content: Profile photos, display name, age or date of birth, gender, city/region, interests, preferences, optional sensitive fields (e.g., sexual orientation, relationship intent, gender identity) — only if you choose to provide them.
  • Verification Materials: Short videos or photos submitted for identity/verification purposes. These are stored for verification and safety processes.
  • Messages & Interactions: Messages, voice notes, media you send via in-app chat; likes, matches, comments, and interactions with other users.
  • Payment & Transaction Data: Billing name, billing address, transactional records, receipt information, and the last four digits of your payment card where necessary for identification. Full card details are processed by third-party payment processors and are not stored by Avego.
  • Support Communications: Content of support requests, including attachments you provide when contacting support.

B. Information collected automatically

  • Device & Technical Data: Device model, operating system, unique device identifiers, IP address, app version, language settings, crash logs, performance metrics, and similar telemetry.
  • Location Data: Approximate or precise location data if you enable location services. We may use Wi-Fi, GPS, or network information to infer location for matching and discovery features. Location sharing is optional and controlled by you.
  • Usage Data & Analytics: Pages/screens viewed, features used, time spent, clicks, search terms within the App, and other behavioural analytics used to improve the App and match algorithms.
  • Cookies & Similar Technologies: Identifiers used to support sessions, preferences, and analytics.

C. Information from third parties

  • Authentication Providers: If you sign in using a third-party identity provider, we may receive your name, email address, profile image, and other details you have permitted that provider to share.
  • Fraud and Safety Providers: Information from identity, fraud prevention, or reputation services to detect abuse or enforce our policies.
  • Public Sources: Information you have made publicly available (if relevant and lawful), only where it helps verify or improve user safety or detection of bad actors.

5. Sensitive Personal Data & Special Categories

Some profile fields are sensitive by nature (for example, sexual orientation, relationship preferences, and gender identity). These are optional. If you choose to provide them, you expressly consent to Avego processing that information to deliver the Services (matching, search filters, analytics). You may remove or edit these fields at any time.

We do not collect biometric templates. Avego does not collect biometric identifiers such as facial recognition templates, fingerprint data, or iris scans.

6. Purposes for Processing — How & Why We Use Your Data

We process personal information for the following legitimate purposes:

6.1 To provide and operate the App

  • • Create and manage your account, authenticate you, communicate about your account, and enable features (matching, messaging, profile display).
  • • Store and display User Content (profile photos, verification videos) so other users can view your profile where permitted by your settings.

6.2 To enable matching, discovery and personalised experiences

  • • Use profile data, preferences, and behaviour to recommend matches and to order discovery feeds. This includes algorithmic profiling and scoring used to generate match suggestions.

6.3 For safety, fraud prevention and trust & safety

  • • Verify account authenticity (via verification videos/photos), detect and prevent abusive behaviour, spam, scams, and other misuse. This includes manual review and automated detection.
  • • Retain records needed for investigation and cooperation with law enforcement (subject to applicable law).

6.4 For payments, billing and transactional records

  • • Process purchases and subscriptions, maintain billing history, prevent fraud, and comply with financial recordkeeping obligations (taxes, refunds).

6.5 For analytics and product improvement

  • • Improve the App, debug issues, analyse feature usage, perform A/B testing, and produce aggregated, anonymised metrics.

6.6 For communications and marketing

  • • Send transactional communications (account, security, billing) and optional marketing communications (newsletters, offers) where you have consented or where permitted by law. You can opt-out of marketing at any time.

6.7 For legal compliance and safety

  • • Respond to lawful requests by public authorities, comply with court orders, and take actions required by applicable law.

6.8 For research and aggregated insights

  • • Create aggregated, anonymised statistics used for research and product planning. Aggregated data cannot reasonably be used to identify individuals.

7. Legal Bases for Processing

Where required by applicable law, we will rely on an appropriate legal basis to process personal data. Typical bases include:

  • Consent: For optional fields and uses (marketing communications, sensitive profile fields, certain analytics and location features) — where you have provided express consent.
  • Contractual necessity: To perform the contract with you (providing the App, maintaining your account, billing for Paid Features).
  • Legitimate interests: For fraud detection, security, product improvement, and enforcing our Terms — balanced against user rights and interests.
  • Legal obligations: Where processing is required to comply with a legal duty.

Where processing relies on your consent, you may withdraw consent at any time (withdrawal does not affect processing already performed).

8. How We Share Personal Information

We do not sell personal data. We share personal information only as described below and only to the extent necessary to provide the Services.

8.1 Service providers and subprocessors

We share personal information with third-party providers who perform services on our behalf, including:

  • • Cloud hosting and storage providers (to host profiles, photos, and videos);
  • • Payment processors and billing partners (to process purchases and subscriptions);
  • • Messaging and push notification services;
  • • Analytics and performance monitoring providers;
  • • Fraud detection and trust & safety vendors;
  • • Customer support and ticketing systems.

These providers act under contract and are authorized to use your information only as necessary to provide services to Avego. We require them to implement appropriate security measures.

8.2 Legal requests and law enforcement

We may disclose personal information in response to lawful requests by public authorities, to comply with court orders, legal processes, or as required by applicable law. We may also disclose information where we believe it is necessary to prevent imminent harm or illegal activities.

8.3 Business transfers

In the event of a corporate transaction (merger, acquisition, asset sale, or reorganisation) we may transfer personal information as part of the transaction. Notice will be provided to affected users wherever practicable.

8.4 With your consent or at your direction

We may share information where you give explicit consent—for example, when you choose to export or share your profile to a third-party service or to a friend.

8.5 Aggregated and anonymised data

We may share aggregated analytics or anonymised data that do not identify individuals for research or commercial purposes.

9. Cross-Border Data Transfers

Avego's systems and third-party service providers may store and process data in countries outside India. Where data is transferred across borders, we will take reasonable measures to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place (contractual protections, security standards, or other lawful transfer mechanisms) and we will ensure processing is subject to comparable protections.

If you reside in a jurisdiction where additional rights apply to cross-border transfers, you may contact us for details about where and how we store or transfer your personal information.

10. Cookies & Similar Technologies

We use cookies, local storage, device identifiers, and similar technologies to:

  • • Maintain session state and user preferences;
  • • Enable secure log-in and detect suspicious activity;
  • • Provide personalised content and app functionality;
  • • Measure and improve the App (analytics and performance);
  • • Facilitate advertising where permitted by you.

You can manage or disable cookies and similar technologies through device settings or the App's settings where applicable. Disabling certain cookies may limit functionality.

11. Data Retention & Deletion

We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this Policy and to meet legal, tax, and accounting requirements.

Typical retention practices:

  • Account & profile data: Retained while your account is active. After account deletion, we de-identify or delete public profile content; backups and logs may persist for a limited period (for example, up to 90 days) to allow for account recovery and forensic purposes.
  • User Content (photos, videos, messages): Retained while your account exists and as needed for safety investigations. When you delete content or your account, we will remove public access; residual copies may remain in backups or logs for a limited period.
  • Transaction and billing records: Retained for a period necessary for financial accounting and compliance (for example, up to 7 years where required by law).
  • Support and legal records: Retained as necessary to address disputes, legal claims, or regulatory obligations.

You may request deletion of your account and personal information; we will act on legitimate requests in accordance with applicable law and this Policy. Certain data may be retained where necessary for legal compliance, fraud prevention, or legitimate business purposes.

12. Your Privacy Rights & Choices

Depending on applicable law, you may have the following rights. To exercise any right, contact us at hi@avego.io or use in-app privacy controls.

12.1 Access

Request a copy of your personal data that Avego holds.

12.2 Correction

Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete personal information.

12.3 Deletion

Request deletion of your personal data (subject to exceptions required by law or legitimate business needs).

12.4 Portability

Request a machine-readable copy of personal data you provided to Avego (for example, profile data, messages you have sent), where technically feasible.

12.5 Restrict or Object to Processing

Object to certain types of processing (e.g., direct marketing) or request restriction of further processing where applicable.

12.6 Withdraw Consent

Withdraw consent to processing where processing is based on consent. Withdrawal will not affect prior lawful processing.

12.7 Decision-Making & Profiling

Request meaningful information about any automated decision-making or profiling that significantly affects you and request human review where applicable.

12.8 Complaints

Lodge a complaint with a competent supervisory authority if you believe your rights have been violated.

Verification: For security, we may require verification information before processing requests (for example, confirming ownership of the account). We will respond to requests within a reasonable timeframe (typically within 30 days where applicable), and will notify you if we require more time.

13. Account Deletion & What Happens Afterwards

When you delete your Avego account:

  • • Your public profile will be removed and you will no longer appear in match queues or searches.
  • • Messages you sent to others may remain in recipients' accounts unless they also delete them.
  • • We will remove or de-identify personal information as described in Section 11.
  • • Some information (transaction records, safety logs, or legal records) may be retained for compliance and safety reasons.

If you simply uninstall the App without deleting your account, your account and data will remain active. Use the in-App settings to delete your account.

14. Security Measures

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information from loss, misuse, unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. These measures include:

  • • Encryption of data in transit (TLS) and encryption at rest for sensitive data where feasible;
  • • Access controls and authentication practices for internal systems;
  • • Secure password hashing and authentication best practices;
  • • Monitoring and logging for suspicious activity;
  • • Regular security assessments and vulnerability remediation;
  • • Limited access to personal data on a need-to-know basis.

No system is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a security breach that is likely to cause harm, we will notify affected users and regulators as required by law and will take remedial steps.

15. Automated Decision-Making, Profiling & Matching Algorithms

Avego uses automated systems and algorithms to power matching, ranking, recommendations, and to detect abuse. These systems combine information you provide (profile fields, preferences) with behavioural signals (engagement patterns, interactions) to present matches that are likely to be relevant.

  • How it affects you: Automated recommendations may affect which profiles are shown to you and which users see your profile.
  • Transparency & control: We provide settings to control certain aspects (e.g., location sharing, visibility, preference filters). If you have concerns about automated decisions that materially affect you, contact us; where required by law we will provide information and human review mechanisms.
  • Profiling for safety: Some profiling is used to detect bots, fake accounts, or abusive patterns — this is necessary to protect the community.

16. Messaging & Communications

Messages you send to other users are stored to enable delivery and present message history. Avego may scan messages for policy enforcement and safety (for example, automated detection of spam, sexual solicitation, or threats). We may retain logs of communication metadata (timestamps, sender/recipient identifiers) for a period necessary for service operation and investigations.

17. Marketing & Promotional Communications

We may send you promotional communications if you consented or where permitted by law. You can opt-out of marketing messages at any time through in-App settings or by following opt-out instructions in emails or SMS. Transactional messages (account notifications, security alerts, billing notices) cannot be opted out of because they are necessary to operate the service.

18. Children & Minors

The App is only for individuals aged 18 years or older. We do not intentionally collect personal information from minors. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we will terminate the account and delete the information in accordance with applicable law. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us immediately.

19. Third-Party Links, Widgets & Advertisers

The App may contain links to third-party services or integrations. This Policy does not apply to those third parties. When you link to a third party, their privacy policies will govern. We recommend reviewing any third party's privacy policy before sharing personal information.

20. International Users & Transfers

If you are using the App from outside India, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in India and other countries where our service providers operate. By using the App you consent to such transfers and processing in accordance with this Policy. We will implement appropriate safeguards for data transfers and will honor applicable local data protection requirements.

21. Data Breach Notification

In the event of a security incident that materially affects your personal information, Avego will take reasonable steps to contain and remediate the incident. We will notify affected users and relevant authorities as required by law and provide information about steps users should take to protect themselves.

22. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. We will post the updated Privacy Policy in the App with a revised "Effective date." Where required by law, we will seek consent for material changes. Continued use of the App after changes indicates acceptance of the updated Policy.

23. How to Exercise Your Rights & Contact Us

To exercise your privacy rights (access, correction, deletion, portability, objection, withdraw consent) or to file a privacy complaint:

Please provide sufficient information so we can locate your account (email address or phone number used for registration) and identify the request. For security, we may require identity verification before fulfilling requests.

We aim to respond to requests within a reasonable timeframe (typically within 30 days), and will notify you if more time is required.

24. Recordkeeping & Accountability

We maintain records of processing activities, data protection assessments, incident responses, and data requests as part of our accountability commitments. We regularly review our privacy practices and training for staff who handle personal information.

25. No Sale of Personal Data

Avego does not sell personal data. Where applicable, if business models change, we will notify users and seek consent where required by law.

26. Additional Provisions for Paid Features & Financial Data

  • • Payment processing is performed via secure third-party payment processors. We do not retain complete card details; tokenized references and necessary billing identifiers may be retained to support recurring subscriptions.
  • • Refunds, billing disputes, and chargebacks will be handled through the payment processor and Avego's billing support. Transactional records will be retained as required for financial and legal obligations.

27. Legal Requests, Safety & Cooperation with Authorities

We cooperate with lawful requests from public authorities. Where reasonably possible, we will provide notice to users before disclosing their personal information in response to legal process, unless prohibited by law or court order. We may preserve and disclose information if necessary to prevent physical harm, to investigate wrongdoing, or to comply with legal obligations.

28. Miscellaneous

  • Language: This Privacy Policy is provided in English. In case of discrepancies between translated versions and the English version, the English version prevails.
  • Severability: If any part of this Policy is found to be unenforceable, the remainder will continue in effect.
  • Entire Agreement: This Policy, together with any additional privacy notices or consents you provide, forms the complete privacy agreement between you and Avego.

  • • Review and update your profile and privacy settings in the App to control what information you share.
  • • Limit location sharing if you prefer approximate matches only.
  • • Use in-App controls to manage marketing and notification preferences.
  • • Delete your account from the App settings if you wish to remove your public profile.

By using Avego you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy and consent to the processing of your personal information as described herein.
